BBYRA Web Accessibility and Help

Pages in the BBYRA site are of two basic types. The core web pages are designed and implemented for the web and have names ending in '.shtml' or '.php'. These pages have a common header, footer and left edge menu as seen on this page. The menu has a control toggle in the header above the menu allowing it to be hidden, giving more space on the page when desired. This group of pages can be further divided into: index pages that primarily link to other pages, and content pages that contain the information in the web site.
The remaining pages display report or other documents designed for print or hard copy. These pages are accessed from the core pages and do not have further connections to other pages on this site. The browser 'Back' toolbar item or ALT + left arrow may be used to return to the previous core page.

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

All Core pages on this site define the following access keys:

  • Access key 1 - Back to the top of the page
  • Access key 2 - Skip over the page content to the menu
  • Access key 4 - Search form for local searches
  • Access key 9 - Feedback and Page comments
  • Access key 0 - Help & Accessibility (this page)
  • Access key A - About Us Index Page
  • Access key H - Home Page
  • Access key J - Junior Activities Index Page
  • Access key M - Members Reference Index Page
  • Access key R - Race Scores Index Page
  • Access key S - Sailing Index Page
  • Access key V - Archive Index Page

Standards compliance

All core pages and most others are validated to W3C HTML 5, These validations are maintained by using the 'Total Validator' extension to Firefox on every page view by the Webmaster.

The CoffeeCup HTML editor and other design tools are used to maintain and expand this site.
