Ensign

The Ensign is the largest class of full keel one design boats in the country with 1800 boats. The Ensign Class Association coordinates one design standards and racing through 5 regions and 51 fleets across the country.

Ensign Fleet 63 on Barnegat Bay was founded in 1971 and Registered with the Ensign Class Association in 1973. The Ensign class first qualified in the BBYRA in 1978. We currently have 19 boats registered and 12 of those are racing the BBYRA and local one design and PHRF schedules. The Fleet has hosted the National Championship Regatta five times and is on the calendar again for 2013. Two of our members are past National Champions and this year six of our members will be sailing in the National Championship Regatta.

The fleet is recovering its membership after a number of steady years. Since 2009 the fleet has welcomed four new boats to Barnegat Bay. Two of these boats are charters-to-own provided by Fleet 63. Two other boats are skippered by 2nd and 3rd generation family members.
